Job Description: Barista and Coffee Roastery Assistant

North Roast Coffee is a locally owned coffee roastery dedicated to crafting the finest coffee from sustainably sourced beans. We take pride in our roasting process, offering fresh, high-quality coffee to both retail and wholesale customers. We believe in creating a welcoming atmosphere where our customers can enjoy exceptional coffee and experience the journey from bean to cup.

We are seeking a passionate and versatile individual to join our team as a Barista and Coffee Roastery Assistant. This dual-role position is ideal for someone who loves coffee, enjoys interacting with customers, and is eager to learn about the intricacies of coffee roasting and packaging. You will be responsible for preparing and serving coffee beverages, packaging freshly roasted coffee, and providing exceptional service to our retail and wholesale customers.

Key Responsibilities

Barista Duties:

- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, including espresso-based beverages, pour-overs, and cold brews.

- Educate customers about our coffee offerings, including tasting notes, brewing methods, and the origin of our beans.

- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring that equipment is properly cleaned and maintained.

- Handle cash and card transactions efficiently and accurately.

Roastery Assistant Duties:

- Assist in the packaging of freshly roasted coffee for retail and wholesale distribution.

- Ensure that packaging meets our quality standards, including proper labeling and sealing.

- Manage inventory of roasted and green beans, packaging materials, and other supplies.

- Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the roastery.

Customer Service:

- Greet and engage with customers in a friendly and knowledgeable manner.

- Assist customers in selecting coffee products that meet their preferences.

- Handle wholesale orders, ensuring accurate fulfillment and timely delivery.

- Address customer inquiries and resolve any issues with professionalism and care.

Qualifications

- Previous experience as a barista or in a similar role is preferred.

- Passion for coffee and a desire to learn more about the coffee roasting process.

- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.

- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.

- Attention to detail, particularly in packaging and quality control.

- Basic math skills for handling transactions and inventory management.

- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, as some physical work is required in the roastery.
