Process: KVW Decaf Process or European Method. The green coffee beans are steamed to open their pores, then soaked in hot water. The beans are removed from the water and Methylene Chloride is added to the water to selectively bind with the caffeine. Both the Methylene Chloride and Caffeine are removed and the beans are reintroduced to the water to re-absorb flavour. This is the preferred method because it removes 96-97% of caffeine and avoids bean contact with the decaffeination agent.
