Hario V60 Brew Guide

Pourovers are one of the simplest and most rewarding ways to brew coffee, producing a clean, balanced cup with clarity and depth. The V60’s elegant cone shape and spiral ridges encourage precise control over flow rate and extraction, allowing you to highlight the coffee’s unique characteristics. With a bit of practice, the results are consistently exceptional.

For Those Who Love Details: Technical V60 Guide

Step 1: Place the V60 over your mug or carafe. Put the paper filter inside and rinse it with hot water (this removes paper taste and preheats everything). Discard the rinse water.

Step 2: Add 25g of ground coffee to the filter and gently shake to level the bed.

Step 3:
Start your timer. Pour about 50g of water (twice the weight of the coffee) to saturate all the grounds. Let it sit for 30–45 seconds — this allows gas to escape and prepares the coffee for even extraction.

Step 4:
Slowly pour the remaining 350g of water in a steady spiral motion, keeping the water level consistent. Try to finish pouring by 2:00–2:30 minutes.

Step 5:
Let the water fully drain through the coffee. Total brew time should be around 3:00–3:30 minutes.

Step 6: Swirl your carafe or mug to mix the coffee evenly, then taste and enjoy a clean, vibrant cup.
